A few years ago, before his death in an automobile accident, singer/songwriter Harry Chapin, father of five, was stung by the plight of the world’s hungry. Chapin measured life in anecdotes, which he eventually published in songs. When he really started to earn money, he started to sing for free, doing benefit concerts for World Hunger. Often traveling alone with no more than a strong voice and a weak guitar, Chapin raised millions for the organization.
Like everything else, money matters, but here, motivation also {days an important role. Every blow of a hoe in a garden in Washington this past summer counted as another strike against world hunger. World Hunger Weekend is bound to increase awareness, too.
There’s no sure way to measure the importance of such a movement. Like a pinch of this or a dash of that, people know when they’re adding the necessary ingredients ant/tih#' recipe is right.
