Going to 4-H summer camp was the most awesome time I’ve ever had. Meeting new friends and seeing old ones was great.
At camp you can learn new things, such as swimming, nature, and horseback riding! they were my classes for the year).
Being a counselor was the best yet because it was a lot of fun working with the kids.
People should be encouraged more to go to camp because we have so many facilities and things to work with. It is Am!

The week of the State Talent Competition began with the ride from Culpeper to Blacksburg with total strangers. We were not strangers long because the ice was soon broken as we became acquainted. I could feel the excitement in the air.
The happy atmosphere made the long ride seem short. When we arrived we were given a campus tour, room assignments and then the work and Am began.
Competition was held on Tuesday night, and great talent from all over the state was presented. On Wednesday, a banquet and fashion show was held. The fashions were all products of the 4-VA participants as their sewing projects.
Awards were given at the banquet I was fortunate to receive one of the three blue ribbons awarede to the participants.
Thursday night was show night. It was a night all had been working toward for the grand finale.
Everyone’s productions were beautiful. All our daily and nightly activities had come to a beautiful end. The spirit was beautiful between all districts. The candle lighting ceremony was magnificent.
It was truly an honor and a pleasure to represent Rappahannock County in the 1964 4-H Congress.
