After the Clarke County second and fourth runners, Rappahannock runners claimed the next seven positions. Following Jonathan Watson and John Dodson were: Robert Ludwick (7), Tony Clark (8), Pat Coffey (9), Marley Hay (10), and Neil Burke (11).
The remaining Rappahannock runners were: John Raney (13), David Fisher (18), Tommy Taylor (20), and Shane Thompson (24).
Karen Ludwick and Denice Eidson placed fifth and sixth respectively for the varsity girls. Kathy Dodson completed the course for the JV girls’ team.
“The course was 3.1 miles of golf course hills,” Spieker said. “The team ran smooth and strong, and I was very pleased with the performance.”
The Cross Country team’s second win came on September 29 against Randolph Macon Academy. The final score was Rappahannock 25, RMA 31.
Ronnie Atkins was again first in the meet. “Ronnie was very pleased with his run, and had every right to be as he ran strong and was in command,” Spieker said. “Ricky Shaw and Jonathan Watson ran third and fourth respectively, and were well ahead of their RMA opponents.”
