Farmers should petition for and elect those individuals they feel would do a good job as a member of the ASC committee. The election of concerned farmers to positions on ASC committees is essential in the administration of farm programs.
The county ASCS office welcomes all valid petitions. The opportunity to nominate, vote, and be elected to office is guaranteed to all farmers regardless of race, religion, sex, age, or national origin.
RCHS Boosters
The RCHS Boosters Club met September 26 at the school. Past and prospective members present discussed former successful fundraisers such as the Follies and a talent show, but no action was taken. More than |S,000 raised was used to purchase science and computer equipment over the last two years.
No decision was reached on whether to elect officers or to function without elected leadership. The group did decide to meet again at 7:16 p.m. October 16, between the JV and Varsity girls’ basketball games with Luray. It is hoped more parents and Rappahannock citizens will be able to come to the Boosters’ meeting that night while they’re already out for the ball games. For anyone unable to come to evening meetings, Principal Robert Chappell often to hold a 10 o’clock meeting the morning of October 16.
Mr. Chappell also reviewed numerous pluses with the Boosters, including installation of the first ever automatic dishwasher at RCHS, the addition of six talented teachen to an already strong faculty, upcoming School Board selection of an architect to handle the renovation and gym construction, various methods he and RCHS teachen plan to use to recognise fine achievement and citizenship of students, institution of a daily quiz contest at the school, and the proposed publication of a quarterly school newsletter.
The public is invited to the RCHS Boosten next meeting at 10 a.m. or 7:16 p.m. on Monday, October 16, at the school.
