Since the early 60’s, when Mr. Fisher saw the need to take ASC’a message beyond the business community, the American Security Council has been supported by contributions from people throughout the United States. Today, that support comes from some 300,000 members, nationwide.
Mr. Fisher, who began fund-raising via direct mail during the early 60’s, today is recognized as a leader in this method of supporting non-profit organizations. The Communication Corporation of America, with some 200 employees, provides the printing and direct-mail arm of the Freedom Studies organization.
The work of the American Security Council Foundation, Mr. Cox explains, primarily is educational. The Foundation sponsors seminars, which may be attended by members of Congress, private citizens-even local experts. Admiral John Marocchi of Sperryville has been a guest speaker at the Freedom Studies Center, and county residents attended a presentation at Rappahannock High School a few years ago, Mr. Cox notes.
