The proposed trash ordinance allows dumping in three manners: at public trash receptacles provided by the county (dumpsters); at approved sanitary landfills; at approved privately owned receptacles.
Dumping of trash on one’s own property is forbidden by state law with one exception: Farmers will be allowed to have dumps on their property for “agricultural” waste.
.• Discussed scenic river. The board heard from Robert Dennis, president of the Piedmont Environmental Council, in regard to establishing state “scenic river” status for the Upper Rappahannock.
