passed the request on to the Planning Commieaion, which made no recommendation other than to suggest the supervisors set up a joint public hearing if they wanted to consider the amendment.
Supervisor Clarence Baldwin said he agreed with Konick’s suggestion and “would like to see something done.” Supervisor Lane noted that this update already was part of the proposed zoning ordinance and ought to be considered a “positive change” in the
proposed document.
Supervisor Baldwin motioned the board meet in joint session with the Planning Commission October 17 to consider the amendment. Supervisor Gilkey seconded the motion, which passed by a 3-2 vote.
• Free computer. The board signed an agreement that will allow the Commissioner of Revenue’s office use of a computer for a year. The offer was made during the board’s September meeting by Gene Wunderlich of the Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service (ERS), a federal agency. Wunderlich said the program was being offered to two “rural” Virginia counties, Clarke and Rappahannock. The county will have the option to return or purchase at cost the computer equipment after one year. No date was announced for the program to begin.
• Ag district ok. Before adjourning, the board recommeded resubmitting to the Planning Commission a request to establish an agricultural/forestal district of 886.39 acres in Wakefield District. Supervisors said the request had to be resubmitted after one landowner was dropped from the original application.
