Greenoch Farm, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice G. Herndon, is one of the three homes featured on the 28th Annual Rappahannock House Tour and Dried Flower Sale scheduled for October 20 and 21.
The contemporary house, built by the Herndons with some help from friends between the 1960’s and 1970’s, is situated on the south slope of Oventop Mountain a short distance west of Sperryville. It contains many family antiques and mementos including the eagle that topped the staff of the flag at the head of Colonel Theodore Roosevelt's troops at the Battle of San Juan Hill.
Greenoch affords a lovely view down the FT Valley toward Culpeper, home of Mr. Herndon’s great, great, great grandfather, Jones Green, whose portrait hangs in the living room.
