The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community, will take on a new look this fall.
Laurie Marshall, who for the last two years served as executive director — the only paid director ever in the three years since RAAC was incorporated in July of 1982— has told the board of directors that she is leaving to have another child.
By November, that very board will elect a replacement for the part-time job.
She is leaving to “spend more time with my family,” one which is “expecting to grow” in January, as she puts it. At that time, she expects to have her second child.
Devoting the time to RAAC — a local organization of nearly 300 people dedicated to promoting the arts — where only in the job description is the position defined as “part-time,” and raising a second child would simply be too much of a load, she says.
Instead, she attempts to return to “a less intense life for awhile.”
