Rappahannock job offers were rejected by teachers due to salary concerns and the lack of adequate housing in the county, Chappel said. “As generous as the supervisors were this year, if they can give more in salaries we’ll be able to attract and keep more teachers.”
“There is a lot to sell here, even though there is a tendency to talk about what’s wrong,” Chappel said. “I’m truthful when I say what I say about this school, and I say it with my chin up.”
After the new teachers adjust to the school and Rappahannock, Chappel said that the year should be a good one. “We have a fine staff returning and fine youngsters,” Chappel said. “The human factor is our biggest asset. ”
