Writing and Reading
Students have fun with pictures and games while they learn letters and sounds with a computer that talks. This innovative program, developed by nationally-known educator John Henry Martin, is called Writing to Read. It utilizes the capabilities of the IBM personal computer, IBM typewriters, recorders, books and games Writing to Read combines the best technical instrumentation with the most advanced and researched educational techniques to create an effective teaching tool. It encourages imagination, builds self-confidence, and enhances a child's basic desire to learn. The effectiveness of this program has been documented in the findings of Educational Testing Service of Princeton, New Jersey, in their evaluation of a National Demonstration Project that involved more than 20,000 children. Enrollment of children 4 to 7 is now open for the fall session.
