The second significant drought in three years has taken its toll but many water users said this week it could have been worse.
“So far, I can’t really say we’ve been hurt by the drought,” said Fauquier Water and Sanitation Authority General Manager Steve Gordon. “Our well production hasn’t really dropped.”

Traces of blood found along the Washington and Old Dominion Trail in Loudoun County match a mixture of blood of the parents of Judith Lynne DeMaria, a 27-year-old woman who has been missing since Aug. 2, according to spokesman for the Loudoun Sheriffs Department.
The sheriffs spokesman said the blood analysis does not “confirm” that the blood found belongs to DeMaria, but “the chances that it does not are remote.” She said the investigation is continuing.
DeMaria, a tennis instructor from Capitol Courts in Sterling, was last seen on the trail Aug.2, and is described as 5’6”, weighing 140 pounds, having black hair and brown eyes.
