Inmate convicted again
RICHMOND — A State Penitientiary inmate has been convicted of criminal involvement in last month’s uprisings at the Richmond facility and has been sentenced to four more years in prison.
Circuit Judge Thomas N. Nance on Monday sentenced Timothy L. Reed, 26, to three years for felony property damage and 12 months for misdemeanor property damage.
Reed, who did not testify, has served 2.V2 years of a 29year Albemarle County sentence on robbery, murder, assault and weapon convictions.
Twenty-two other inmates face indictments on a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with the two-day uprisings in the prison’s C Cellblock.
Group considers Va.
LEXINGTON, Ky. — A decision on whether to move its headquarters from Lexington will be made by the Council of State Governments in December, after trips by a selection panel to four proposed sites, a spokeswoman said today.
The group’s executive committee approved visits by the site-selection panel to Lexington, Chicago, Indianapolis and Northern Virginia during a meeting Tuesday in Honolulu, said Susan Mohler, the council’s public relations and marketing coordinator.
Representatives of each area made a pitch to the selection committee Monday. Gov. Martha Layne Collins urged the panel to recommend that Lexington, home to the council for the past 16 years, be retained as the group’s headquarters.
The selection committee will visit the proposed sites in September and October. It then will provide a report that will be reviewed at the council’s annual meeting Dec. 5-6 at Lake Tahoe, Nev., Ms. Mohler said.
