time helping the new teachers get started, but I don’t see that as a big problem,” said Chappel.
He said that a support system, including the buddy teachers, has been set up to handle the initial questions and confusion.
“I have confidence in the caliber of people that are coming in,” Chappel said. “I think that they’ll be able to step in and do what’s required without a tremendous amount of guidance, but the administration will be available.”
Chappel and his staff will visit with new teachers during classes and after classes to keep in touch with what teachers are experiencing. “There will be a coordinated system of support with periodic staff meetings,” Chappel said.
