To the editor:
It is quite obvious that the new editor did not know the seriousness of the solid waste problem in Rappahannock County when he wrote the article on “Trash” that appeared on the August 8 issue of the Rappahannock News.
The Solid Waste Advisory Board was appointed by the Board of Supervisors, and has worked long and hard in an endeavor to find the best solution to the problem, from the standpoint of ecology and economics.
The report was serious and it was in poor judgment to make light of it.
Thanks to Daphne Hutchinson, Theresa Reynolds and Jane Bangley, there was a paper published that week.
The dismissal of the former editor without any notice was an unethical act on the part of the paper’s owner.

To the editor:
I represent the Macedonia Baptist Church of Flint Hill, who were recent recipients of a gift deed from Rev. and Mrs. John Pendleton.
This list of real estate conveyances reported in your newspaper of recent date indicated that the Rev. and Mrs. Pendleton had sold this property to the church for the sum of $500.
This was in fact an error, and the only reason for listing this consideration is the fact that the Macedonia Baptist Church shouldered some of the expense relative to clearing the title to this property.
In fact, the Rev. and Mrs. Pendleton gave this land to the church and I would appreciate it very much if your newspaper would run a brief correction indicating that this was the case.
