‘Brazil’ Brazil will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on August 30, 31 and September 1. The movie stars Jonathan Pryce, Kim Greist, Michael Palin, Robert DeNiro, Ian Holm and Katherine Helmond. This is a humorous version of 1984. It’s a visually exciting view of what could happen in the future. Sam Lowry, a Walter Middy type, is a clerk for the Ministry of Information who fantacizes about being a knight in shining armor, with wings, so that he may soar among the clouds to meet a gorgeous blond maiden. Wharton family reunion The annual family reunion of the late Henry T. Wharton and Lillie M. Cloude Wharton, will be held September 6 at the Rappahannock Park. Relatives and friends are invited. “Please come, join in, bring a picnic basket and enjoy,” said a family spokesperson.
Building fund benefit planned On Saturday, August 30 at 8 p.m. Lillian Aylor will be giving a concert at Promise Land Baptist Church. She will be accompanied by James R. Freeman, Jr. This program will benefit the building fund. t

Mark Twain at Gay Street On Saturday, September 6 at 8 p.m., RAAC and the Wayside Theatre will present Mark Twain Himself, starring Ed Steele and produced by the Wayside Theatre on Tour. This program is a one-man dramatization of Mark Twain’s writings and philosophies. There will be no movie shown the weekend of September 6 and 7.
