Attorney General Mary Sue Terry has announced that some 1,000 Virginians will receive refunds from a bankrupt firm that sold travel passes on a now-defunct airline.
The refunds stem from an investigation and litigation involving First Federal Corporation, a Delaware company that sold passes for $1,500 that allowed purchasers to make 10 round trips to any destination served by Air Florida.
Air Florida filed for bankruptcy in March 1984, and First Federal was unable to locate another airline that would honor the travel passes.
First Federal went into bankruptcy in Tampa, Florida in January 1985. At the time it had approximately $300,000 on account from the sale of the travel passes.
