Anticipating a significant increase in traffic over the Labor Day holiday weekend and noting that 7 persons were killed during this period last year, the Virginia State Police recently announced plans to once again participate in Operation C.A.R.E.
C.A.R.E., an acronym for Combined Accident Reduction Effort, is a state-sponsored national program designed to reduce motor vehicle crashes, injuries and fatalities over major holiday weekends. State Police have been participating in the program for nine consecutive years.
