These and many other questions will be dealt with in a new course beginning at Lord Fairfax Community College this fall. Introductory Physics will be a “conceptual” course according to Bill Warren, physics professor at the College. “It will be qualitative, based on common experience, and will emphasize reasoning rather than mathematical formulation,” he said.
This is the first of a three-quarter, four credit, laboratory physics course and should transfer to a fouryear college or university as a liberal arts or general studies science course. It would be particularly good for students who have not had high school physics.
