To the editor:

We would like to compliment the Rappahannock News on the Editorial “A Cautious Plan” (August 21 issue) and to thank all of the members of the Town Council and the Town Planning Commission, as well as the many citizens who have attempted to inform the townspeople about the 4 issues of zoning and planning being considered. Planning, informing, protecting the rights of individuals as well as the structure of the community are exceedingly difficult as we know from having watched and to some extent participated in the process in the Town and the County over the last few years.

We feel that the Council and Commission members have worked long, heroically, and successfully to protect the village as a whole as well as the individual citizens they represent. Such diligence in the pursuit of protections for the common good should be recognized with appreciation. Regardless of the outcome of such serious, conscientious and timeconsuming deliberations, all members equally deserve our sincere thanks. MITZIE & BILL YOUNG
