The high school will greet five new teachers to their faculty. They are Beth Briggs, Lori Brosius, Gary Leake, Carla Willey and Tracey Pence.
Beth Briggs will teach tenth and eleventh grade English. This is her first year of teaching. She enjoys working with the theater which she has done for six years. Ms. Briggs is from Franklin, Virginia and graduated from Mary Baldwin College with a BA degree in theater. Her lifetime goal includes achieving a masters in education and moving into the administrative area. .
High school math teacher Lori Brosius is from Ebsensburg, Penn. She received a BS degree in accounting and a BS degree in math education from Indiana University in Pennsylvania. This is her first year of teaching. Ms. Brosius applied to a neighboring county and heard of an opening in Rappahannock. “I liked what I saw and here lam.”
Gary Leake will be the coach for the girls and boys varsity basketball teams and eighth to tenth grade Physical Education teacher. Last year he was athletic director and coach of five sports at Wakefield School. He received a Phys. Ed. degree and a minor in health education from Shepherd College in West Virginia. Mr. Leake is from Sperryville, Virginia. He chose the teaching profession because he enjoys working with children, especially in athletics.
Carla Willey will spend her first year of teaching in business education. She will also be Junior Varsity
