We may remember the winter of 1989 for its unusually warm days or this year’s spring for its unusual weather patterns; but the summer of 1989 will be remembered for its unusually wet conditions.
“It is a very unusual year,” said Dr. Patrick Michaels, the state climatologist from his office at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He explained that instead of getting drenched by our usual thunderstorms in June and July we, “had a lot of rain fall from low pressure systems,” which are more common in winter months.
