In 1943, he rejoined the American Trucking Associations as its Director of Public Relations and served in that capacity and, commencing in 1952, as permanent assistant to the elected presidents of the American Trucking Associations, until his retirement in 1967. In 1953, he was co-founder of the ATA Foundation, through which major suppliers to the trucking industry contributed millions of dollars to the industry’s public relations program.
Mr. Belson played a leading role in fostering professionalism in the field of public relations. He served as President of the Washington, D.C., chapters of the Public Relation's Society of America and the former American Public Relations Association, which merged in 1961 into PRSA. He served as national President of the Public Relations Society of America during the year 1962, and later was named “Public Relations Professional of the Year."
