John T. Toler, executive vice president of Arundel Newspapers’ Southern Division and general manager of The Fauquier Democrat was elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Virginia Press Association at its 107th annual meeting July 22 at Virginia Beach.

Toler, 42, of Broad Run, has been with The Democrat since 1967, and with Arundel Newspapers in advertising and management since the company joined the group in 1974.

A longtime associate of the VPA, Toler has been involved in organizing VPA meetings in Northern Virginia, and has served as a reciprocal judge in advertising and editorial contests for other state press organizations.
