Mr. Smith is hoping to find a house to buy in Rappahannock. Since coming here from Craig County where he was an elementary school principal last year, he has been living with a sister and brother-in-law in Northern Virginia. His wife has stayed behind to work at her job in Blacksburg, and on weekends they have been house hunting. “I’m planning on living here in the county. It helps give you a feel for the community to live in it,” he said. About the difficulty of finding affordable housing in Rappahannock, Mr. Smith said, “that’s part of the challenge of the move.”
