The grapes are ripening on vines all over Fauquier County, and the upcoming harvest is once again accompanied by a slew of wine tours, festivals and “summer brunches.”
The two biggest festivals in the county are held a week apart this month: the Middleburg Wine Festival Aug. 19 at Piedmont Vineyard; and the 14th Annual Wine Festival, to be held Aug. 26 at Swedenburg Estate Vineyard in Middleburg.
This Sunday, before either of the .large festivals, Meredyth Vineyards near Middleburg is hosting a Summer Brunch.

The Wine Festival at Swedenburg also includes the 5th Annual Virginia Wine Auction to pay for renovations to the Aldie Mill. The Vinifera Wine Growers Association, based in The Plains, has already raised $14,000 toward the restoration.
The Middleburg Wine Festival, at Piedmont Vineyard, is scheduled for 10 a.m.-5 p.m., rain or shine. Five vineyards are taking part in the Aug. 19 festival.
