Turkey walk
offers exercise,
for good cause
By ROBERT SCOTT
Rappahannock News Contributing Writer
It would do your heart good to join friends and neighbors for the Great American Turkeywalk on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. This annual event promises to the the most successful yet.
“The response to our notices in the Rappahannock News has been very encouraging,” according to Ann Miller, this year’s Turkeywalk chairwoman. “The walkers had a great time last year and are coming back again this time. We’ve also heard from many others who are joining us for the first time, some of them well-known leaders in the community. It’ll be a wonderful opportunity to renew pleasant contacts and to make new friends while we’re all doing our hearts a lot of good in the process.”
You can make it a moment in your life to remember with pleasure, epjoying the beauty and colors of our Rappahannock autumn, the pure fresh air, good company and the shared feeling of well being, health and happiness. You’ll find that having a healthy heart is an appropriate preparation and reason for Thanksgiving this year.
If your own heart is healthy, be grateful and do everything you can to keep it that way. Join Turkeywalkers, get your family and friends to be sponsors of your walking at “so much per mile.” All such donations received will benefit the local chapter of the American Heart Association. The exercise you receive will benefit your heart and your future health.
Walkers will gather at Old Hollow, Route 612, near Sperryville at 1 p.m. for registration. The walk starts at 1:30 p.m. over a maximum course of six miles. Prizes will be awarded based on the amount of donations turned in on walk day.
