six prehistoric sites have been located on the farm, ranging from a possible Paleo site through sites dating from the Late Woodland era, as well as several of the historic era.
In keeping with their strong preservationist beliefs, the Speidens have donated open space easements on the farm to the Virginia Outdoors Foundation.
Mrs. Speiden says that one of the most rewarding and important parts of her work has been sharing her ever-increasing knowledge of the long-standing history of the area with others. She often gives public talks like the one she plans Sunday, to groups ranging from kindergartners through senior citizens.
All are welcome to attend the Historical Society meeting. There will be no admission charge.
