To the editor:
On Thursday, Oct. 18, I was favorably impressed as I read, under the headline “Editorial Platform” (p. A4), the statement that . .this newspaper will remain politically independent. . .”
So, it came as something of a surprise, one week later on Oct. 25 to see, under the heading “Election ’90:” (p. A4) that the Rappahannock News endorses. . .Smith for Congress. ” This would appear to constitute a clear-cut alignment with the Democrats, since Mr. Smith's opponent is, of course, a Republican.
