Virginia State Police Trooper John Vincent Facchina received the 1990 Bronze Medal of Valor from the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce.
The award was bestowed on Trooper Facchina for his actions during a hostage situation in Sterling on Feb. 24, 1989. Trooper Facchina responded to a report of a distraught, . intoxicated and armed employee of a fast food restaurant who had taken a hostage and barricaded herself in the building.
