since he has worked diligently with the Congress on getting a budget agreement - this is the longest session for Congress since World War II.
Congressman Slaughter continues to be recognized for his effectiveness in Congress. Most recently he was the recipient of the “1990 Eagle of Freedom” award on Oct. 19 on Capitol Hill. Among the many accolades, co-chairmen of the National Security Caucus, Congressmen Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and George “Buddy” Darden (D-GA) said in a joint statement, “French Slaughter is obviously one of the most respected and effective members of the House of Representatives. . .” On the American Security Council 1989-90 National Security Voting Index, he received a perfect 100 percent rating.
In a separate ceremony, he was named a “Guardian of Small Business” by the National Federal of Independent Business.
