For the first time in six years the voters in the Seventh Congressional District have an important choice next Tuesday. This choice is not merely between Republican or Democrat, or of one personality over another, but a choice between principles, vision, ideals and effectiveness. David Smith is, simply stated, the best choice.
If you believe that clean air and clean water are important to our future, you should know that the Republican candidate has the second worst record of the Virginia delegation in Congress on these issues.
If you are fed up with a few well connected insiders profiting from the collapse of the savings and loan industry, you should know that the Republican candidate was the only member of the Virginia congressional delegation to vote against stiff penalties for savings and loan cheats.
