Citrus fruit sale
The Rappahannock Music Boosters Club is now selling cirtus fruit through the month of November. Fruit can be purchased from any band or chorus members and seventh graders. Proceeds will go towards purchasing band uniforms and the seventh grade trip. Turkey walk Nov. 4
The Rappahannock Chapter of the American Heart Association will conduct its annual “Turkey Walk” at the intersections of Route 600 and Route 612 in Old Hollow on Sunday, Nov. 4. Archeologist to speak
“Prehistoric Indians of the Oiedmont” is the subject of Mrs. Sandra Speiden, an avoctional archeologist, who will speak to the quarterly meeting of the Rappahannock Historical Society. The meeting will be held at the courthouse on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m., Nov. 4.
Mrs. Speiden has spent over ten years doing site surveys of about 10,000 acres in Orange, Madison and Greene counties. This has resulted in more than 150 prehistoric sites in those counties being recorded in the state. The public is invited to attend the lecture.
Mothering group to meet
Members of the Mothering Cooperative are reminded that Dr. Jerry Martin, family practitioner will be available on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 to discuss childhood illnesses.
Help for abusers, victims
Services for Abused Families Inc. of Culpeper sponsors weekly support groups for abusers and the victims of domestic violence. A group for women with relationship problems meets each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., and a similar group for men with problems including anger and violence meets each Monday at 6:30 p.m. The location of these meetings is confidential. Gallery offers classes
The Middle Street Gallery in Washington is offering a series of classes, seminars and trips for members and the public at large. They include art for young people, drawing and painting for young people, a watercolor painting class and a fiber art workshop. 'Legend of Sleepy Hollow'
The headless horseman will ride again on Nov. 11 as the Wayside Theatre on Tour recreates Washington Irving’s classic story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” in a radio adaptation at the Gay Street Theatre in Washington. This family production, beginning at 3 p.m., will feature sound effects and audience participation. Sponsored by RAAC, tickets are $5 and are available in advance at RAAC’s local ticket outlets. Hospice annual meeting
Hospice of the Rapidan’s Annual Sponsorship Meeting will be held Nov. 1, 7:30 p.m., at Madison’s Hebron Lutheran Church. Election of board members, reports, and program are on the business agenda. All hospice supporters are invited to attend.
Church bazaar in Madison
Madison County’s Fourth Annual Church Bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 10 at Waverly Yowell Middle School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be served featuring Yoder’s barbecue chicken. There will be lots of crafts and baked good items, plus a lot of fun. Participating churches are Bethel, Walker’s and Oak Grove United Methodist and Rochelle Christian.
