In April 1991 he was charged with passing three more bad checks in Madison County, and a capias was issued for his arrest in Rappahannock County for violation of probation. For more than five years Mr. Messick has managed to elude arrest. His whereabouts is unknown.
James Carter Crawford, 21, was charged with stealing a .357 caliber pistol and a .22 caliber pistol, which amounts to grand larceny. Bond was originally set at $3,000, but Mr. Crawford requested and received a lower bond of $1,000. He was released on bond. In October 1993 he and his court appointed attorney entered a plea agreement with Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke. He agreed to plead guilty to the lesser charge of petty larceny. The attorneys recommended 12 months in jail with nine months suspended and two years of supervised probation. Judge Robinson asked for a pre-sentence report by Jan. 10, 1994. On December, 15, 1993, a capias was issued for his arrest charging him with failing to cooperate with the probation offices in preparing the presentence investigation.

Tony Capies, 28, pled guilty to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a 1980 Ford Fairlane belonging to Lester S. Sisk, in January 1992. After a pre-sentence report he was sentenced in February to five years in jail with two suspended and two years of supervised probation. He was also supposed to pay costs of $529.50.
