On Wednesday September 20 Rappahannock County High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams won a quad meet at Strasburg.
The Rappahannock girls’ defeated Strasburg 25-31. Manassas Park and George Mason did not have enough runners to field a team.
Holly Gangel was the overall winner in the girls’ race. She got her district season off to an excellent start and completed the 3.1 mile course at Stickley’s Farm in 21:11.
Jessica Gheen was the second Panther to cross the line, third overall with a time of 22:04. Lauren Sharp placed seventh in 23:06. Foreign exchange student, Myrian Lathuile, was. the fourth Panther to finish, tenth overall in 23:50.
Candy Dennis, Meghan Fairbrother, Emily Simms, Robyn Kaye, and Claire Schadler all finished in the top twenty for Rappahannock.
The Rappahannock boys had four of the first ten finishers and nine of the first 20, and finished with 25 points. They defeated Strasburg, (31 points) George Mason (101 points) and Manassas Park (103 points).
