RCES Student Council President Melanie Torrance requested board for approval for school participation in Trash Free Rappahannock’s “Cash for Trash”. Melanie told the board that she and her schoolmates intended to beat the competition, and would donate winnings to the high school track and the 4-H program.
Spotlight on Learning
Teaching team leaders Deborah Flinchum and Lois Markee reported on progress in their respective teams. Mrs. Flinchum was fervent in her support for the team concept and its effectiveness in establishing teaching goals and assessing results. She reported that the K-l team has devised a recording procedure for success on SOLs, and has established a mastery level of 80 percent the exams. The team has also planned and executed “celebrations of learning” to recognize each and every student for his or her abilities and contributions and
