Choosing the proper fit
Even if you are using the conduit services of a contractor, an architect and/or an interior designer, the showroom visit is an inevitable part of the process. In fact, the more likely scenario is that the primary person handling your project will be a kitchen and/or bathroom designer. Even further, kitchens and bathrooms have become. so sophisticated that a good specialist will be far more knowledgeable than the typical architect or interior designer.
So, how do you go about choosing the right person for the job?
Their are two very important factors: References and products. If you are lucky, the right specialist will also offer the products that you desire.
Except at the extreme high end (or pure custom), most showrooms offer similar products. But every so often, an outstanding specialist may not be able to offei* the desired items. In that case, you may decide to work Out a design fee with that person, while purchasing your materials elsewhere.
Many specialists will be certified by the “National Kitchen and Bath Association. They pass a test and are accredited as certified kitchen designers (CKD), certified bathroom designers (CBD), or both. Others may have college degrees, either in architecture, or more likely in interior design.
