ORMPC is an affiliate of the United States Pony Clubs.

Membership is an excellent way for children who love horses to participate in horse related events.

Some are competitive, others cooperative. The children are evaluated on how well they ride, then placed in a group with others of similar ability. The “ratings” range from beginners to olympic-caliber. Children from ages five to 21 are eligible.

The club puts a lot of emphasis on safety and proper care of the ponies. Because the lessons are done in small groups, they are comparatively inexpensive. Members participate in a wide variety of events: dressagejumping, cross-country, hunting, and eventing.

There are also classes for children who do not ride or do not own a horse.

Scholarships are available due to the generosity of sponsors and fund raising efforts such as selling raffle tickets at the Old Dominion Hunt Races. For further information please contact Abigail Gille at 635-8666.
