After prolonged discussion op how to best provide handicapped access to Trinity Episcopal Church failed to produce a solution at their Thursday night meeting, members of the Town of Washington Architectural Review Board decided to pay a visit to the site on Monday.
As a result of their findings, the ARB voted 4-0 to recommend building a new sidewalk, and to make changes in the parking scheme in order to provide the needed access.
The request for an on-site visit was made Thursday night by ARB Chairman Ed Barton, who is also a member of the church.
Last month, the ARB turned down the church’s plans to provide handicapped access. One proposal involved building a 40-foot raised concrete ramp with a metal handrail on the church’s adjacent “quiet space” lot.
