I saw bees traveling from flower to flower,” Harman recalled, “so I would pick them up and move them from one flower to another. “I told my mom I was helping the bees.” Harman chuckled merrily at the memory, a tale of a child’s natural, devil-may-care curiosity, with buckets of foreshadowing poured on. Now, the Flint Hill resident is a hobbyist beekeeper with 20-40 bee colonies. A busy bee herself, Harman is active in a number of local, regional and national beekeeping organizations. She teaches beekeeping courses, writes a monthly article for Bee Culture magazine, co-authored a honey cookbook, and travels around the world
