Mary and Glen Hoffherr have lived all over the country and Glen has travelled all over tjie world. They have finally found rest, peace, happiness and continued success here on the borders of Rappahannock and Culpeper Counties.
They have lived here for two years in a lovely home they bought on Wildwood Forest Boulevard.
Glen recently had three books published with McGraw Hill. With two collaborators, H. James Harrington and Robert P. Reid Jr., Glen writes technical books for business management.

He has written or co-written a total of 16 books since 1990. And now that he has found this beautiful, tranquil area, he will probably find himself more prolific than ever.
Mary is now a homemaker and manages their lives. She explains, “we are ready to run our lives for a change instead of running other things.”
The story of their meeting is one lifted from fairy tale. In 1969, Glen was stationed in the southernmost city in the world, Punta Arenas, Chile, in the Straits of Magellen, where he “flew satellites” for the Air Force.
Glen recalls, “there were penguins on the side of the road, daylight for 24 hours, and darkness for 24 hours at different time.”
Then he was relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1970. Besides working for the Government, Gary found time to play basketball and work part-time at a gas station.
One night, Gary had plans to attend a Washington Darts’ play-off, but “the bus got canceled, and with nothing else to do, I rode with my friend Billy to Pennsylvania to attend his wedding.” Billy worked as a mechanic at the gas station where Gary moonlighted.
When they arrived at Billy’s parents’ home, Billy introduced Gary to his brother, Dan. Turns out they already knew one another because they had played basketball together. Then, Mary walked down the staircase. Mary was Billy and Dan’s sister.
Glen took one look at Mary, turned to Billy, and said, “that’s the woman I’m going to marry.”
They were married a year later.
