can be installed easily to create the timeless look of ornamental plaster work. Antique molding and architectural pieces might be made of wood or plaster while reproductions are usually made of a lightweight polyester resin.
• Impersonate period lighting such as Early American wrought iron chandeliers with modem copies found at Crate & Barrel and Pottery Bam.
• Replace that old hand-medown lamp from your grandmother with a fresh new painted wooden lamp. Keep the lines classical. A distressed crackle finish and hourglass shape give hand turned wooden lamps an air of originality. Keep the shade simple and white.
• Search flea markets and auctions for old paintings that have potential. Still life paintings and printed engravings that have collected dust have always be reframed. A crisp linen matting and brushed gold frame will awaken tired art.
• Look smart. Display a stack of old leather bound books on a table or mantle. They can be found at yard sales, antique and used bookstores.
