Glen went into the computer industry, working for Brandt, a company which makes money processing equipment for financial institutions.
And in the winter of 1979, Glen recalls, “Wang made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. I worked with them for the entire 80’s. I had eight or ten management jobs. They moved us from Chicago to New Hampshire, close to the headquarters in Massachusetts.”
With Wang, Glen traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia.
In 1990, Glen went to work for GOAL-QPC, a non-profit research organization for emerging management methodologies. And Glen began writing, “I was writing research reports on Fortune 10 firms, started writing books, lecturing and training. It was a great change.”
Glen began to get more into the consulting end of the organization, “but because of their non-profit status, they couldn’t generate more than a small percentage for their consulting. So in 1993, Mary and I started our own publishing and consulting business.”
Most of their clients were in Asia and South America, so Glen continued to travel. In the winter of 1994 to 1995, Glen was in Singapore and Mary was in New Hampshire dealing with 150 inches of snow. Mary thought to herself,
