“But what I’ve found is that Hearthstone actually does what they say. They really consider each child’s needs. The classes are small. The school puts emphasis on the body, soul and spirit of a child as well as on academics,” said Mrs. Branchaud. Her son, a severtth grader, spent his elementary years at two highly respected private schools in the northwestern tip of Virginia.
“I’m willing to make two one-hour trips a day because it’s the first time I’ve hppn happy with a school for my son,” said Mrs. Branchaud, a musician who is married to a Front Royal businessman.
“The spiritual side of life is important to me and is neglected in schools-generally. Hearthstone is a spiritual, but non-denominational, how-to-live school. I think anyone would feel comfortable here.”
Hearthstone’s buildings are surrounded by countryside, with llamas, sheep, donkeys, emus, ponies and other animals living adjacent to the school. The Lower School children tend to many of these animals as part of their outdoor education.
