30 Years Ago ; Thursday, March 27,1969 « Rapley Owings has accepted the ' position of Extension Agent, ‘ Agriculture for Rappahannock County and will assume duties here April 1. Mr, Owings is no stranger » here for he served as Assistant ' Agent in Rappahannock in 1955-56. ; He is a graduate of the University of Maryland where he majored in Animal Science. Following his graduation he managed a beef cattle and seed farm. For the past two years he has been Extension Agent in Warren County. Some 50 men and boys, 41 of them ; Rappahannock County Boy Scouts,, spent last Saturday picking up trash along the roadway and stream . banks in the Washington and * Sperryville area. The particular work areas were the , portions of the Rush River, North J Fork, Thornton River and Piney * Branch that are stocked with trout. I There will be a meeting March 31 at the Sperryville fire hall to consider plans for organizing a rescue squad * in Sperryville. Any and all area resi’ dents who are interested in an orga‘ nization of this kind are urged to attend.
