The Rappahannock County 4-H Dog Club learned all about the Virginia State Police Drug and Search Dog Program. At their meeting at the Child Care and Learning Center pavilion, State Trooper Mark Campbell gave a demonstration on how his dog finds drugs. The dog was very energetic and eager to find the contraband.
State Trooper Wayne Sumner brought his dog that is used in search and attack.
Accompanied by Sgt. Perry Benshoof, the troopers gave a talk on the training of the dogs and troopers and explained the time spent with the animals and the individual training required each day by the troopers. It is a huge commitment to keep these dogs in top shape.
The 4-Her’s learned that it takes a lot responsibility to take care of state police dogs and their own dogs. They also learned the important role our state troopers play in our community. We thank them very much for their time spent with the 4-H program.
After School Club learns about danger
of tobacco use
Children at the Child Care and Learning Center After School Club learn about what tobacco use does to you. “TATU” 4-H teens, Robyn Kaye and Marc Williams gave a very entertaining program.
The TATU program, which stands for Teens against Tobacco Use, was sponsored by the Rappahannock County Health Department.
After the program, the children received their “tattoos” against smoking and other information on the dangers of tobacco use.
