The Christendom Players will present Shakespeare’s comedy masterpiece, “Much Ado About Nothing” March 26, 27 and 28 at The Theatre in Washington.
Performances will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a 3 p.m. matinee on Sunday. The Theatre is located at 291 Gay Street in Washington. \
“Much Ado” has always been one of the most crowdpleasing of Shakespeare’s plays. In 1993 it was turned into a popular film starring Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, and Denzel Washington.
Benedick and Beatrice, two of the play’s main characters, make up a delightful romantic couple. Though deeply in love, they hide their feelings for each other beneath a barrage of witty wisecracks.
Other marvelous characters include the noble Don Pedro; the wise Leonato; Hero, the lovely daughter of Leonato and Claudio, the naive young soldier whose love for Hero is severely tested.
