The Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance (RCCA) held it first post-incorporation meeting at the Washington Town Hall last Wednesday. According to board spokespersons, the meeting was convened to introduce the organization’s new Board of Directors, its mission and objectives, and to kickoff its initial membership drive.
RCCA’s President, Bayard Catron, engaged nearly fifty attendees in a discourse that included a review of RCCA’s development history, its mission, its operating philosophy, and the organization’s need for talent, energy and money. Catron defined the group’s mission, “To ensure that Rappahannock County remains a scenic rural community,” and noted that it correlated well with the County’s Comprehensive Plan that states, in part,
“We the people of Rappahannock County declare it to be a “scenic county” . . . which shall mean:
One in which the preservation and enhancement of the natural and historic beauty and cultural value of the countryside shall be respected as being of foremost importance; and
