Frances Bruce Blankenbaker, 95, of Culpeper, formerly Haywood, Va. died on Nov. 17 at the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Center following a brief illness.
Born in Rappahannock County on June 4, 1904, she was the daughter of Roscoe C. Bruce and Annie Gore Bruce of Sperryville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Lawton Blankenbaker and her son, Ashby Jackson Blankenbaker.
She attended State Teacher’s College, Harrisonburg, where she obtained her teaching certificate arid thereafter taught at Sycamore School in Rappahannock County prior to marrying in 1927 and moving to Madison County.
Mrs. Blankenbaker was especially well-known for catering of meals, having served over 6000 guests in her home.
She Was equally wellknown as a Pink Lady in the snack bar at the Culpeper Hospital, having retired as a volunteer at age 91. She was also an active member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Haywood, its Sunday School and Missionary Society. She had been a member of the Madison Garden Club for many years and was active in
