There are plenty of people on the Internet who want to sell you something for Christmas. But if you’re looking for inexpensive holiday craft ideas in cyberspace — especially ideas for children — then you’re going do some hunting. They’re out there, but aren’t always so easy to find.
There are a number of holiday crafts links accessible through a Web site called www.looksmart.com. The best of these are sites have been organized by individuals who have an obvious passion for enjoying the holidays themselves.
A site organized by a family (www.teelfamily.com/ acti vities/christmas) offers several holiday projects and links to several others. A t this site are a couple of good projects for younger children, including making a twinkling Christmas wreath from an old or scratched compact disc.
From the other materials needed — mylar confetti or ribbon, holographic stickers, glitter and white glue — you probably get the basic idea. You can hang the decorated CD from the tree or attach it to the refrigerator with a self-adhesive strip of Velcro.
As long as young children understand they’re not supposed to decorate any of the family’s “good” CDs, it’ll be a Merry Christmas indeed.
